Smoke Out is A FPS game developed by 2 other devs and me. Our inspiration was "Ready or Not", a tactical first person shooter game. Our aim was to make it a more casual experience but with a great game feel. We wanted customizable recoil, Enemy AI and a objective that's easy to understand. We're happy with the result although we still wanted to add more, but there's only so much you can do in 4 weeks.Β
In the game you get dropped off at an island and need to defeat a notorious drugs cartel held up on the island. You're tasked to kill the cartel members and locate all the drugs and secure it. Do be carefull because they're armed and ready to defend their little base.
in the 4 weeks of working on this game I wanted to work the most on game feel, shooting mechanics and the map
I really wanted to make a customizable recoil system so its easy to balance and change it. I made it so you can change the: Vertical, horizontal and visual recoil on the gun. And of course you can change damage, range, firerate ect.
I also worked on a small introduction map. The map wasn't meant to be very tough or long because we wanted to plan on making more maps. But as I said before there's only so much you can do in 4 weeks with 3 people.
I also made the character movement, particles, head bobbing and the animations on the gun.Β
Overall i'm very proud of my recoil system because that took most of the time for me to make it work. But I still found time to improve the game in other ways and aid my team.
